The students of Cesar Chavez Academy Middle School had Anti-Bullying Door Contest that lasted for two weeks and ended on Wednesday, November 3rd. This contest was for sixth, seventh and eighth graders.

CCAMS held this contest because bullying is harmful and they wanted to raise awareness about it. In order for students to participate, they decorate their homeroom door with an anti-bullying theme. For example, they decorated their doors with words of encouragement and inspiration for those affected by bullying.

According to dosomething.org, in the US, approximately 160,000 teens have skipped school because of bullying. Bullying is very hard for students and can make them anxious at school. Eighth grader Vielka said, “Bullying can hurt someone to the point where they feel dread.” 31% of sixth graders experience bullying, which is the most of any grade in middle school, according to dosomething.org.
